Dr. Juana D. Carrillo Sánchez

Veterinary School, University of Murcia, Murcia, Spain

Juana D. Carrillo Sánchez is an Assitante Professor at the University of Murcia. Her main teaching area is Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery. JDCS is a responsible for the Small Animals Section at the Teaching Veterinary Hospital of University of Murcia. Her main interest includes the use of minimally invasive techniques, in order to promote the welfare of the animals.

Dr Marina Císcar

Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncologicas, Madrid, Spain

Marina Císcar is a research scientist with a BSc in Biomedicine, an MSc in Genetics & Cellular Biology and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences conducted between Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) and IDIBELL (Spain). During the last years, her interest was mainly focused on cutting-edge breast cancer research, determining the potential prognosis value of human RANK and RANKL proteins, widely described in physiological mammary tissue. She studied the contribution of specific immune populations to breast cancer progression as well as the potential benefit of RANKL blockage in patients through the use of drug treatment in murine models with breast cancer patients-derived xenografts (PDX). Currently, she is working for Health in Code, a company focused on the identification of health problems that may benefit from a genetic diagnosis and the development and provision of testing services for those conditions.

Dr Darko Grden

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia

Darko Grden is Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at Veterinary faculty, University of Zagreb, Croatia, where he graduated in 2002. and obtained his PhD in 2011. Since his graduation he has worked as internal medicine clinician, with small and large animals. Dr. Grden has a lot of international experience due his to time spent at various veterinary faculties abroad, participating in professional, scientific and educational work. He has pioneered equine endoscopic diagnostics in Croatia, and made it a part of the standard diagnostic procedures in equine medicine at Veterinary Faculty Zagreb. Lately, he has switched his clinical focus on farm animals where he is working on implementing latest diagnostic techniques and animal welfare standards into educational and clinical process. Dr. Grden has, as a co-author, published 1 book and 2 university handbooks. Currently he teaches farm animal internal medicine, both intramural and extramural.

Dr Snježana Kužir

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia

Snježana Kužir is a professor of histology with 25 years of experience. In addition to histology, her areas of scientific interest are fish morphology and archaeozoology. She is the head of the Laboratory for Histology, Histochemistry and Immunohistochemistry. While working at the Faculty, prof. Kužir participated in 10 scientific projects. She is the co-author of one online textbook, 6 chapters in various books and co-author of more than 50 scientific and professional papers. She participated in presentations at about 60 scientific meetings in the country and abroad. The list of works is visible in the Croatian scientific bibliography

During the pandemic, she devoted herself to developing digital skills, and her wish is to continue her professional growth through training in communication. Furthermore, she seeks to learn new skills and apply the acquired knowledge while teaching new generations of students.

Iva Lehunšek Panić

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia

Iva Lehunšek Panić graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb and earned the title of professor of pedagogy and Ukrainian language and literature. Since 2021, prof. Lehunšek Panić has been working as the Head of the Office for Career Development, Academic and Psychological Counseling at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb. In addition to individual and group academic and psychological counseling, prof. Lehunšek Panić independently implemented various projects for career development. The narrower area of prof. Lehunšek Panić pedagogical work is the art of communication, or how to be a more successful speaker, interlocutor, and project leader through the skillful use of various socio-pedagogical methods. Furthermore, prof. Lehunšek Panić pedagogical work also focuses on how the creative process of thinking contributes to communication and presentation skills. During the years of work, prof. Lehunšek Panić designed and implemented various socio-pedagogical forums and projects that included scientific and pedagogical research, their implementation and evaluation. Prof. Lehunšek Panić participated in the implementation of many European projects about human potential and resources.

Dr Andrija Musulin

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia

Andrija Musulin started his veterinary journey by enrolling in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb in 1998. He graduated in 2005 with thesis named «Comparison of arterial blood pressure between outer and inner cardiac massage during cardiopulmonary resuscitation”.  He received his PhD title by defending a doctoral thesis «Influence of different neuroleptanalgetic combination of postural reactions, spinal reflexes and cranial nerves in dog» in 2015. He started working in the Clinic for surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology on Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb as a volunteer from 2002 to 2007, then continued as an expert associate from 2008 to 2009 assistant from 2009- 2019 and finally from 2019 up until this date as an associate professor.

Dr Lada Radin

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia

Lada Radin’s ongoing position is at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagreb, as a head of EU funds office. Previously a teacher in Veterinary Physiology with scientific interest in small ruminants, antioxidants and sports medicine. Lately, she is invested in project management, higher education policies, competence-based education and life skills within biomedical education. In the period from 2018 to 2021 she was the coordinator of Erasmus+ funded project “Pan-European soft skills curriculum for undergraduate veterinary education – «SOFTVETS». Her interest also lays in sustainable development, rural areas, food production and locally invested forms of tourism.

Dr Ana Shek Vugrovečki

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia

Ana Shek Vugrovečki graduated from the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Zagreb in 2006. After her studies, she started working at the Veterinarske stanice grada Zagreba, where she worked until 2008. The same year, she started working at the Unit of physiology and radiobiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and enrolled in postgraduate doctoral studies. She received her doctorate in 2015. In addition to working on projects, she is involved in the teaching process, where she participates in teaching in the undergraduate courses «Physiology of domestic animals I.» and «Physiology of domestic animals II.», and elective subjects «Role of veterinarian on organic farm» and «Cell structure and function», «Reptile morphology», «Physiology of amphibians and reptiles», «Physiology of birds» in Croatian and English. She is the course leader of PDA1 and PDA2 and second year English students’ mentor. Since 2013, she has been participating as a lecturer in the course for training people who work with experimental animals, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb (methodological unit «Pain and stress»). She translated two chapters of the university textbook «Physiology of Domestic Animals» published in 2017.

Dr Iva Šmit

Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia

Iva Šmit participated in the founding of the Skills lab of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb. She is a professor on the Clinic for Internal Diseases, on courses in graduate study of veterinary medicine on Croatian and English language. She is an author/co-author of over 70 scientific and professional papers published in journals or presented at congresses. She participates in a profesional work with patients.  Her special field of interest is gastroenterology and endoscopic examination of the digestive and respiratory systems of dogs and cats.

Dr. Asta Tvarijonaviciute

Dr. Asta Tvarijonaviciute is a Lecturer at the University of Murcia. Her main teaching areas are Clinical Propaedeutics and Small Animal Internal Medicine. AT research activity is focused on the use of non-invasive samples for health and welfare assessment in a wide range of animal species as well as humans within the concept of «One-Health».
